A Bright Rainy Day

When I am home on a rainy day there is nothing I like more then the cozy and warm feel that you get from the light of a lamp or candle. So as I'm going about the house getting things done I have all the lamps on and a few candles lit. In the living room is where I have the most lamps. Below in the reflection of the pier mirror are three lamps. The one in the front is a gold glass beaded candle lamp and in the back ground are a floor lamp and an electrified kerosene lamp.

Here is a close up of the floor lamp

a cozy spot for reading,

and a close up of the kerosene lamp

with yet another electrified kerosene lamp over on the Library table

and again, a reflection of the floor lamp, in a different mirror.

On the mantle are a pair of Meissen style porcelain candlesticks with lusters to reflect the candle light to add even more light to the room.

In the foyer is the reddish glow of the cranberry glass electrified ceiling lamp.

And upstairs in the master bedroom are a few more lamps

Below is a close up of the lamp on the other side of the bed. The base is reproduction but the globe is antique. It came on the tall kerosene lamp that I have on the Library table but I moved it to this lamp.

And last of all, is this little night light in my son's room. It makes me laugh because he is such a masculine young man to have such a sweet little floral night light in his room. He went off to college so I put it away and when he came back for the weekend he got it back out and there it sits on his washstand. Isn't that cute?

Thank you for your visit and I hope I've added a little warmth to your day today. Have a blessed week.

First, I really enjoyed your post!
I can't believe you live near that Nursery School! We drove for hours in that area and have an offer in on a rancher in Quail Creek off Scott Blvd. Waiting for the Homeowners Assoc to assure me I can put a privacy fence in the back yard and make some changes in the yard with trees, etc.
By the way, I forgot you were from Columbia. I did find Mary Watson's shop and the other 2 expensive. I didn't buy anything in Blackwater.
Lastly, I have a clock like yours above but mine is green!

  3. Absolutely love your home and the time you took to share. For some reason some of the pictures I'm unable to view. What I missed was the cranberry glass electrified lamp the picture was blank (maybe too much light) just kidding. Thank you and have a wonderful evening. Maria

  6. Lighting makes all the difference in a home, office, anywhere. Your lighting is cozy and seeing all the antique lights that were "electrified' was enlightening to me. ( pun intended )

Just letting you know that yes - I will be moving near you. We will be closing on the house January 29th at 4505 Rainbow Trout Drive off Scott Blvd. in the Quail Creek Subdivision. I have to give up a few things - no real dining room or den but I will have finished area in the basement for tea parties(walk out basement).
